Varieties: Moro & Sanguinello
Looking for that extra something to introduce in your assortment right before the holiday season? Our organic blood oranges from Western Greece are looking beautiful and are almost ready to harvest!
We find them special because compared to other oranges, blood oranges have a unique flavour being distinctly raspberry-like in addition to the usual citrus notes. Depending on the variety, the flesh can range from orange with multiple blood-colored streaks to deep blood like, red/maroon color, hence their name. Their distinctive dark flesh color is due to the presence of anthocyanins, a family of antioxidant pigments common to many flowers and fruit, but uncommon in citrus fruits.
Let's face it. When it comes to oranges we simply love blood oranges.
Is it a crime?
